The Kashmir Great Lakes trek is a trekking journey of 8 days and the trekking is best done during the period of July till September when the meadow track remains filled with blooming flowers and verdant greenery. The Kashmir Great Lakes trek is ideal for the nature lovers who wishes to bask in the charming beauty of lush landscapes, verdant meadows, fresh water lakes and myriad collection of wild flora at the backdrop of stunning peaks.

Itinerary

Day 1: Srinagar - Sonamarg (Alt 7800 ft)
Drive from Srinagar and arrive in Sonmarg which is 3 hours’ drive. Sonmarg is a beautiful meadow land with greenery and nature bliss. Night halt in camps.
Day 2: Sonamarg to Nichnai via Shekdur (Alt 7,800 ft to 11,500 ft)
Trekking starts this day and approx 6-8 hours trek to Nichnai via Shekdur. The trail takes you through meadows, dense forests with Maple, Pine and Bhoj trees. The trek from Shitkadi to Shekdur is goes through thick forests of pine trees and will take approx 2 and half hours. The trek follow the Nichnai Stream as we trek from Shekdur to Nichnai. Overnight at tents at our camps.
Day 3 : Nichnai to Vishansar lake via Nachnai Pass (Alt: 11,500 ft to 12,000 ft via 13100 ft)
A 12 kms trek that takes approx 8 hours We can visit the Vishansar Lake which is just 15 minutes’ walk from the campsite The first lake of the trek and one of the most beautiful ones. Vishansar is visited by hoards of sheep and their shepherds are known for interesting stories.
Day 4: Rest Day.
Rest day or say acclimatization day for rest of the trekking. Visit Kishansar Lake, which is at approx 1 and half kms from our camp site.
Day 5: Vishansar lake to Gadsar via Gadsar Pass (Alt 12,000 ft)
Start the trek little earlier in the morning. The trail passes from Vishansar to Gadsar, via Gadsar pass the highest point of the trek. We can see the Kishansar Lake on the way. After the Gadsar Lake, we will reach the campsite in 2 hours. Check our ID's in an army check point. Night halt in tents.
Day 06: Gadsar to Satsar (Alt 12,000 ft)
On this day trek we see two small lakes which are often mistaken as Satsar Lakes. We will visit the Satsar twin lakes, in the afternoon. These twin lakes are between the middle of the mountain.
Day 7: Satsar to Gangabal twin lakes via Zaj Pass (Alt 13000 ft)
Walk on rocky paths for approx an hour and ascend till Jazz Pass. At the pass, you can enjoy views of the 4 lakes, Mt. Harmukh and its glacier. We visit the Gangbal Lake, which is one of the largest lakes in the trek.
Day 8: Gangabal to Naranag Drive to Srinagar
Descent trek to Naranag which will pass through pine tree forest. Drive back to Srinagar and after reaching Srinagar night halt at our houseboat.
Day 09: Departure day.
Our representative shall assist you to the airport. If there are few hours to spare (depending upon the time of the flight), we can organize a sightseeing trip in Srinagar
